Disney on Parade - The Memory Nest sketch challenge

I stumbled upon The Memory Nest this morning and found a sketch that I instantly fell in love with and was inspired by! Here's the sketch:

and here's what I was inspired to do:

I'm FINALLY getting these parade pics scrapped from our Disney trip in 2009. The sketch at The Memory Nest immediately inspired me to scrap these pics. I knew I wanted all of them on a page but wanted a nice way to showcase them without it looking too cluttered. So that's why I kept the embellishments to a minimum and stayed away from PP on this layout.

Mr & Mrs - Stuck?! sketch challenge

I started scrapbooking 6 years ago when I started making a wedding album for our 5 year anniversary that year. I had never before done a scrapbook like this, only collecting souvenirs from trips and pasting them down on some paper before. So I bought a couple paper packs and went to town and made a wedding album. Then my grandmother started sending me some of her picture albums and this picture was in it. A picture I had NEVER seen before nor knew existed. I love the candidness of it, a snapshot of us getting out of the truck at the reception. And it shows how things looked, and us just being casual, and I love that! I STILL have those paper packs that I started with 6 years ago, and when I found a color challenge over at A Cherry on Top, combined with this sketch from Stuck?!, I knew it would be a perfect picture to use!

Here's the sketch from Stuck?!

and here's the layout I created, using items from that original paper pack so it still coordinates with my wedding album (though the style definitely is different than the rest of the layouts!)

I had a bit of a mishap with the Heidi Swap misting inks, but in the end the result is acceptable, tho I do need to learn a bit more about using them! lol.

Best Friends - Let's Get Sketchy

This is a layout I created using last week's sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. I used it to create a layout based on a challenge over at A Cherry on Top - to use colors from the Olympic Rings - either black/red/blue or yellow/green, and to use gold/silver/bronze as accents. These are my daughter's besties from her old daycare pre-k class on her last day of pre-k before we moved across the state. I knew I had to snap a picture, she and the little boy have been inseparable since she was 6 months old! (Removed faces of children for privacy.)

And here's the sketch from Let's Get Sketchy:

I used papers from Colorbok primarily with some Simple Stories and a touch of MME mixed in the banners. And the silver "Friends" piece has been in my stash for well over 4 years. This was a perfect page and challenge for it!

Happy Girls are the Prettiest - Let's Get Sketchy Feb week 2

Happy girls are the prettiest. I love this quote! And it was the perfect piece to go along with some new pics I got of my Olivia at her first pageant last month. I did this layout for a sketch challenge over at Let's Get Sketchy, while also combining it with a couple challenges over at A Cherry On Top (single photo of a single person, and a challenge to use hearts in the title work).

Here's the layout I created:

And here's the sketch from Let's Get Sketchy:

I rotated the sketch and used the papers to stand in for some of the layering in the sketch, and used some washi in place of doilies (which I've never used). I just got a new stash of goodies from ACOT AND some new pics, so I was more than happy to scrap this morning! I used a mixture of new products from Echo Park (background ombre paper), Glitz (pink quatrefoil I got in a pack from HL last month), Chickaniddy (brad with flowers, enamel hearts, 3x4 cutaparts 2 tags), and Doodlebug (pink diagonal washi) along with some new sequins I bought, my first sequins purchase. With these papers, it wasn't hard to highlight this beautiful girl who lights up my life!

Through the Years - Use Your Stuff challenge

My husband and I have been together 15 years, and in May we will celebrate 11 years of being married. We have been through a lot together over the years. In an album of pics my grandmother sent me, she had these two pics next to each other and I just loved how they were there together. SO I was inspired to scrap them, and I kept thinking "Through the years." Then I remembered the song by Kenny Rogers "Through the years" and well, the lyrics sum up a lot of what we've been through! So what a better song to be inspired by than this! This is my submission for the February challenge over at Use Your Stuff, which is to use a song as inspiration.

Here's the layout:

I'm also combining this with 2 challenges over at A Cherry on Top. The first is a music challenge, which is to use a love song as inspiration. The second is a 3 in a Row challenge, to pick 3 items in a row horizontally, diagonally, or vertically and use them on a layout. The line I chose is: flowers, stamping (words stamps) and pearls. And I used a sketch for this layout for a challenge over at www.scrapbooksteals.com

Thanks for looking!

I've been published!

Hello everyone, welcome to February! Hopefully Spring is right around the corner and we can start to thaw out and enjoy the nice temperatures outside!

With February comes a new online magazine release from the team at Let's Get Sketchy. I entered their cover girl search contest, and while I wasn't selected to appear on their cover, I AM featured within the magazine! Check out page 15 to see my layout. Although the title isn't correct, it doesn't really matter - I am just so excited that I have been published!!!
